Records Division



The Wellesley Police Department Records Division is responsible for the safe keeping
and proper dissemination of over three thousand reports annually. In addition, the records clerk
is responsible for crime statistics and motor vehicle crash data.

The reports and statistical data, when requested, are disseminated to the general public,
lawyers, insurance companies, the courts, other police departments, and various other
agencies throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

All laws regarding public records, privacy, and the Massachusetts General Laws are adhered to.

Requests for letters of good conduct, fingerprints, and background checks also go through the records division.

Fingerprints - Fingerprints can be completed without an appointment.
The person to be fingerprinted must provide their own print cards.
The fee for this service is $10.00 per fingerprint card.

Lost and Found Property (Unclaimed Property) -  Chapter 135, sections 7&8 and Chapter 134, section 1
The Wellesley Police Department will be selling unclaimed property, (mostly bicycles) by means of a public
auction conducted online at the website:

The police department will be auctioning off the following types of unclaimed property through the property room
.com website: Unclaimed bicycles, telephones, stereos, cameras, watches, jewelry, tools, clothing, and other
personal property. If anyone believes that an item listed on the website belongs to them please contact
Susan Morse at 781-235-2189.

Letters of Good Conduct - Letters of Good Conduct are provided for various reasons such as travel visa's,
students studying abroad, and adoption. These letters verify that you have not
been involved in any criminal activity with the Wellesley Police Department for the last five years. If you
need a letter of good conduct,  please submit copies of two (2) photographic
identification cards, the address where you lived in Wellesley, your social security number,
a telephone number where you can be reached, who the letter should be addressed to and whether
or not the letter needs to be notarized.

These letters only cover criminal activity in the Town of Wellesley and are NOT Statewide Criminal
History Checks. Forms for a Criminal History Check are available at Wellesley Police Headquarters
or from the
Downloadable Forms Section of our website.

The Records Division's hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm.
