Chief Pilecki is pleased to announce that assessors from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission are scheduled to conduct an assessment of the department, to include policies and procedures, operations and facilities beginning on Monday June 5, 2017. The assessment is expected to last for two to three days. Verification by the Assessment Team that the department meets the Commission’s standards is part of a voluntary process to gain state Accreditation -- a self-initiated evaluation process by which police departments strive to meet and maintain standards that have been established for the profession, by the profession.
Accreditation status requires that the department meet 257 mandatory standards, and at least 69 of 125 optional standards.
Achieving Accreditation is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence. We look forward to sharing the success of this project with the community upon completing our assessment.
