 On Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 957 AM, Dispatchers Sarah Walsh and Mark D’Innocenzo began receiving numerous calls at the Wellesley Police Department’s Emergency Communication Center for an auto accident at Quebrada Bakery, which is located at 272 Washington Street in Wellesley Hills. The first 911 call was from an employee at Quebrada Bakery, reporting that a car had just driven into the building, through the window, and the driver was trapped in the car.

Seconds later, Dispatcher Mark D’Innocenzo received another 911 call, from a customer inside the bakery. Mark recalled that he could hear a lot of people screaming in the background, and the caller was very upset. She initially wasn’t able to provide any information.  Dispatcher D’Innocenzo  was able to calm the person down and learned that the driver of the car was not trapped, and it did not appear as if anyone was seriously hurt in the incident.
 

 
The Wellesley Police Department received at least ten different 911 calls in less than two minutes reporting the crash. The Wellesley Police Department, Wellesley Fire Department, and AMR Paramedics all responded to the scene.
 
Arriving officers found a vehicle had driven halfway into Quebrada Bakery, through a large glass window next to the main entrance of the store. AMR paramedics evaluated two minor injuries from inside the store, but no one was transported to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
 
A preliminary investigation by Officer Nate Derby revealed that the vehicle involved was pulling into a parking space in front of the bakery. The vehicle apparently then jumped the curb, went over the sidewalk, and went through the glass window, taking out a small seating area and large industrial display refrigerator before finally stopping. Although the store was crowded at the time of the crash, no one was sitting in the area involved. 
 
Ironically, police, fire and EMS had been to Quebrada minutes prior to the crash on an unrelated medical emergency. 
 
The involved vehicle was pulled from the store and removed from the scene by a tow truck from McQuillans Auto Service. Wellesley Police Officer Nate Derby is investigating this crash.
 
OTHER WPD NEWS: WPD Investigates Two Recent Break Ins:
 
The Wellesley Police Department is currently investigating two recent residential break ins. On Friday, July 27, 2012 officers responded to a home on Denton Road where a burglary had been reported. Officers determined that the break in occurred during the day when no one was at home. It appears the suspect forced entry into the residence and items of value were removed from the house.
 
A second break in was reported on Granite Street on Saturday, July 28, 2012. The suspects also forced entry into this home while the residents were on a vacation. Detectives from the Wellesley Police Department’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to both scenes and are evaluating evidence that was recovered at the scene.
 
Both cases are being actively investigated by detectives.
