Wellesley Police Officer Ron Poirier is investigating a two car crash near 14 Washington Street on April 21, 2009.  At approximately 9:30 PM, Dispatchers Patrick Goodwin and Kathy Lameiras received a 911 call at the Emergency Communication Center regarding a rolled over motor vehicle on Washington Street near the Newton line.  Wellesley Police, Fire, and AMR paramedics were dispatched.

Officers Tim Barros and Matt Farwell arrived on scene moments later and found a small Mazda overturned near the entrance to the old Grossman building.  They began initial medical treatment  and stabilization of the driver, who was the only person inside the upside down car.    Wellesley Fire and AMR paramedics arrived and began to extricate the patient.

Officers Fritts, Popovski, and Derby then assisted with traffic at the scene.  Washington Street was closed between Columbia Street  and the Newton line, with traffic detoured around the crash.  Updates about the crash and traffic conditions were broadcast via the Wellesley Police Department's Twitter account.  After the vehicle was righted by a tow truck and removed, Washington Street was opened to traffic.

Officer Poirier determined that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Washington Street, striking a parked motor vehicle, before hitting a parking meter and rolling over.  The operator of the vehicle was transported to a Boston hospital.  The accident remains under investigation.  More photos of the crash can be viewed by clicking here.
